When I started graduate school, I bought How to Become a Straight-A Student because it had been ten years since I took part in any formal education and I knew the book would help. From there, I devoured the back catalog of his Study Hacks blog. I picked up Newport’s fourth book, So Good They Can’t Ignore You, while cruising through the Management section on a random trip to the library. In addition to his books and blog, he’s an accomplished academic, which gives him credibility, unlike many of his contemporaries, whose only success comes from telling you how to be successful.
Calvin Newport’s six published books and three of those profoundly shifted my approach to various aspects of life. Once in a while, if you’re lucky, a book comes along and changes your life.
